Our Story

What started as making fresh tortillas for my own family turned into a small business built with love, hard work and tradition.

I grew up enjoying tortillas made at home using simple ingredients and care. When I couldn’t find that same authentic taste in stores, I decided to make them myself.

LICHA Tortillas is built on tradition, quality and the support of our community. Thank you for choosing local and sharing our tortillas with your family.

We are a licensed tortilla producer based in Minneapolis’ West Metro Area, dedicated to crafting fresh, authentic tortillas. Our tortillas are home-made, using only clean ingredients, our process is simple using hand-press and comal to get soft tortillas that melt in your mouth.

With simple, clean ingredients.

Flour

We use two types of wheat flour depending on the tortilla you choose. For our Classic and Licha tortillas, we go with traditional all-purpose wheat flour to achieve that soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. For our Whole Wheat version, we use whole grain wheat flour, adding a nutty flavor and extra fiber—perfect for those looking for a healthier bite without giving up on taste.

Water / Milk

Hydration is key in tortilla making—it’s what brings the dough to life. Our Classic and Whole Wheat tortillas are made with fresh water for a clean, authentic texture. For the Licha tortillas, we use milk instead, giving them a slightly richer flavor and softer finish that stands out on the table.

Oil / Fat

Each tortilla has its own personality, and the type of fat we use makes all the difference. Classic: made with light vegetable oil for a smooth, familiar flavor. Whole Wheat: prepared with olive oil, adding richness and depth while keeping it wholesome. Licha: crafted with real butter, bringing a warm, indulgent taste that feels homemade in every bite.

Salt

A pinch of salt may seem simple, but it’s essential. It balances flavors and highlights the natural taste of the flour and fats, ensuring every tortilla is perfectly seasoned. It’s the little touch that makes a big difference.
